We just put out a question on our Twitter asking if Hellebuyck can enter the top-5 all-time goalies this season if he gets a unanimous Vezina. It would mean he's the first to do it unanimously since the early 80s and the first since Brodeur to collect 3 Vezina trophies. The big question is the lack of Stanley Cups... but is it even a caveat?
Who's guaranteed a spot?
- Patrick Roy
- Martin Brodeur
- Dominik Hasek
- Ken Dryden
It seems like we can all agree that Roy, Hasek, Brodeur are top-3 in some order. After that, we're looking at 70s/80s guys who played in an era that looks pretty different from today. You probably put Dryden on

I know for a fact that media members read this forum, so they sure have the ability to ask tough questions. That being said, I understand they need to protect their jobs first and not get into hot water with the league.
These days tho, if there’s enough noise online, that gives people the blanket of protection to actually ask tough questions and press for answers. When a knob like Steve Simmons ask those questions nobody cares, we need reputable journalists asking them.
This has gone completely out of hand, to the point where it genuinely looks like corruption behind the scenes with money involved.

Original Title: [Serious] Since players are allowed to earn extra money on endorsements, are players endorsing companies/products/services provided by their team's owners allowed, or is it prohibited because it counts as cap circumvention?
I wonder if this is something explicitly covered in the CBA, NHL Constitution, or any other official documentation somewhere; if this is allowed, it seems like an easy loophole for teams to pay their players extra money away from the salary cap, but this kind of "solution" being this obvious I imagine it is illegal for that exact reason
Who would be the 4 teams added to make the NHL a 36 team league, given the news about Atlanta?
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/cs029 on 2023-09-14 04:40:02.
I would want it to be Houston, Atlanta, Quebec City and Hamilton.
What are the most heartbreaking NHL careers you’ve witnessed in your lifetime?
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/theXchang3 on 2023-09-06 15:33:31.
This can range from players who showed promise but kept getting injured, players who never won a cup, tragedy or loss, never seeked/got help, etc.
Who we’re some NHL players who had troubled/character issues but rebounded & eventually redeemed their careers?
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/theXchang3 on 2023-08-30 19:36:06.
This can include players who were once trash-talkers, had attitude problems, immature, had criminal records, etc. but through time; redeemed themselves by maturing throughout their careers, transitioning from toxic players to important players, even in life
Edit: Title should’ve said “were”. Phone autocorrected to “we’re”
Edit 2: Can be current players or players in the past as well
How will McDavid game age when he gets into his 30s?
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/Mammoth-Edge480 on 2023-08-28 00:58:52.
We know McDavid best attribute is his speed, specifically he's the fastest player with the puck on his stick and making plays with his speed. But what happens when his speed declines, when he gets into his 30s. Will he be able to make the neccessary adjustments to his game just as Crosby, Lemieux, Gretzky, the generational greats who remained great players well into their 30s. Will he still be the best player once he hits 30?
If the AAV of a contract is what's used to account for the salary cap, what is the point of frontloading or backloading a contract?
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/EmperorOfNothing on 2023-08-05 16:43:57.
Other thing I also used to not know was the difference between signing bonus versus salary, but I think I understand the basics of that more? (Signing bonus is one lump sum paid to player on a fixed date, taxed based on where player receives it; salary is pay for the 82 regular season games and taxed based in where they play, 41 home dates and whatever 41 away dates, and all of those different tax codes).
Anyways, what is the purpose of front-loading/back-loading a contract if that cannot be used for year-to-year adjustments for the salary cap, if the cap hit is calculated using the average annual value anyways?
Which OHL teams have the best fan support
The original was posted on /r/hockey by /u/cs029 on 2023-07-30 21:39:23.
How much support does your OHL team receive in your city? How much do people follow it? How big of a deal is the team? Fans from WHL and QMJHL can also answer.
