Do I have to un-quit studying arabic AGAIN? There's just so much vocab, even if you stick to MSA. The grammar is consistent which is nice, but memorizing all the different masdars for different forms of a verb just seems impossible. Maybe this time I'll do better though :inshallah-script:

  I can recite the roots of form 1-10 with no problem. My first few years were all Classical Arabic, translating the Quran and some al-Ghazali using dictionaries. Classical dictionaries have definitions for masdar's though so I didn't internalize the meanings much.

  Great, what is the common meaning of form 4? Is the problem with form 1 masdars? Do you have trouble remembering masdar patterns for form 2-10 or do you get them confused?
  
  I used to know so much more, but now I can't even remember the patterns. I know that forms 5 and 6 are generally the reflexive forms of forms 2 and 3, and I think form two is mutual? Like "corresponding" versus writing. I've lost so much of this information.
  The problem with form 1 specifically is definitely masdars. Masdars are part of the larger problem which is my lack of vocab. I lack some especially key phrases like "I should

  " or "I will
  <verb>
  when
  <condition>
  ." I don't know much about future tenses other than "I want to

  ." Also I need more nouns and verbs generally.

  That is form 3. The future is super easy! And yeah you need to start studying again before you forget even more :)
  
  Oh is form 2 imperative then? And yeah I really should, but there's no Arabic speakers in my area and tutors cost SO much money but لست عندي المال
  
  There is no imperative form, the imperative is a mood that you can turn almost any verb into.

  ليس عندي المال. المال هو اسم ليس. Do you remember my old account? Anyway, money shouldn't be an issue. I'm actually thinking about starting a pay-what-you-want beginner class for comrades if there is enough interest and no scheduling issues. I'll DM you when the account is old enough and if I can't help with tutoring then I'll at least help you with the resources and the problems you have.

  ليس عندي المال When do I conjugate or not conjugate laisa? I was intending this to be laisa first person singular, but I recognize that that looks the same as third person feminine. Is lastu 3ndii redundant? Also, is "المال هو اسم ليس " al-maal is laisa's name (in this case gender/conjugation)?

  Yeah form 2 can give the meaning of doing something intensively and/or repeatedly:
  كَسَر to break
  كَسَّر to smash
  And the other common meaning of form 2 is being causative, making someone do something:
  عَلِم to know
  عَلَّم to teach (literally to make someone learn)
  Also, is "المال هو اسم ليس " al-maal is laisa’s name
  Yep which is why ليس is conjugated with third person singular. ليس is one of كان's sisters, do you know about those unique verbs? ليس, like كان, has a مبتدأ refereed to as اسم ليس and a خبر... so these verbs don't have a فاعل but the conjugation follows the مبتدأ, makes sense? I don't mind elaborating

  Did you know that a common pattern for form 1 masdars that have to do with crafts (حِرفة أو صِناعة) is فِعالة?:
  خاط خياطة
  كتب كِتابة
  زراعة تجارة نجارة صحافة حراثة
  Form 1 masdars are difficult but things like this make it a bit easier
