ADHD meds are suspiciously over-prescribed.

I see ADHD meds constantly being prescribed to people that fit ADHD symptoms; but neurotransmitter levels usually aren't checked prior, which could cause some issues in development. Capitalism is a parasite that values profit over people, so it is unsurprising to find that some people fit ADHD symptoms because the brutality of capitalism exhausted them.

Artificially inserting neurotransmitters into children can affect their development; health issues could appear as a result.

  • I have never had my "neurotransmitter levels" checked before I was prescribed any psychotropic drug, that's how psychiatrists are. This is the issue with psychiatry and believing mental disorders are "the same" as other organic disorders.

As an adult, I should get a say in what mind altering substances I ingest. Yet I can't ask for certain medications unless I want to be accused of drug seeking behaviour. But they no problem giving me benzos for anxiety, it's just bizarre.

  • This issue is literally such a large topic with so many aspects to discuss I don't think I can comfortably get into here and still go to work later.

  • I'm on the autism spectrum and have noticed I exhibit a few symptoms that are very similar to ADHD symptoms. I'm absolutely terrified of talking to my doctor/psychiatrist/therapist about these for fear that they'll see those few symptoms and slap me with a diagnosis and I'll look irrational for not wanting to be put on meds. I've seen ADHD meds prescribed to schoolchildren for less. It's really depressing that it's seen as something that needs to be "fixed" and "cured" rather than accommodations be made for us but such is the neurodivergent life I guess.

  • Well I am the living stereotype of ADHD and I think it's a combination of kids self diagnosing on TikTok and then their doctors getting bank off of them. All the meds I've tried don't seem to have an effect on me.
