Manga Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion Thread [2025, Week 18]

Previous Thread

Another week in the books. Let's chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.

Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).

  • I've been mostly focused on visual novels, job hunting and personal projects recently so I didn't have much time to read anything beyond what I usually post. What I want to say however is: I'm really happy that The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All didn't end the moment our MCs got together. Not only that, there doesn't seem to be any signs of an upcoming finale (or at least I don't see many of those).

It's nice when a romance series realises there's more to romance than just becoming a couple. Now here's hoping for another few volumes.

  • Now that I've caught up to Medalist I've just been reading more of Fullmetal Alchemist. I doubt most people here need to be told how great it is, so I'll share something neat I discovered instead. You know that rap Colonel Mustang does in the DVD extras? You know, this one? I always assumed it was something they just made for the DVD but when I got to volume 12 some awfully familiar text was printed on the back! Here it is for anyone who can read Japanese:

  • I haven't had too much time to read this past week, but there are a couple things I wanted to call out:

So, I know I have mentioned this one before, but I just wanted to give this series another mention. It has really packed a lot of emotions into what started as a silly, cooking-themed, ecchi gyaru series. I have been super impressed at the author's ability to write a compelling MC that isn't afraid to be emotionally vulnerable at times.

I caught up on a couple chapter of this series this past week and the end of volume 2 was great. I felt like the second volume was dragging a bit with the introduction of some new characters that split our main couple apart for a while, causing the narrative to split as well. However, the end of volume really has me looking forward to where things go from here.
