It's election season in Denmark and I'd like to sink this country into the sea

EDIT: I see now someone else has beaten me to the finish line with a more eloquent and more thorough post. Even my rage is not novel.

First off, a brief overview of the parties in play. Each party gets assigned a letter, so you know where to put your checkmark on election day. I'll put the letter in square brackets.

Konservative (conservative) [C] Which is a party that isn't very conservative to be honest. They want to change a lot of things about danish society. Especially the taxes and the welfare. Get rid of it. Their old leader Søren Pape died of a brain aneurysm in 2024 and we were all supposed to be sad about it for some reason. I saw him about 6 days before he died hanging out in a local gay bar and I had to leave because the man and his cronies made me sick to my stomach. I can't remember, but I'd like to think I muttered some curse that damned him. Now headed by Mona Juul who is something very rare for danish politics - Someone who had a career before becoming a politician. Typically they do it the other way around. Here she is

Dansk Folkeparti (Danish peoples party) [O] They mainly want less danish people - As in get rid of immigrants. They're also big on animal rights, allegedly, though they mainly market themselves via pork. Big on racism. We have them to thank for the fact that the danish national dish is a french peasants' dish (It's pork with potatoes basically. Gotta keep the muslims out.) Helmed by Morten Messerschmidt who has the vibe of a bond villain

Danmarksdemokraterne (The Denmark democrats) [Æ] Which is sort of an offshoot of Dansk Folkeparti started by its old leader Inger Støjberg after she got kicked out for doing a bunch of illegal political stuff. Even bigger than the old party on racism. Here she is

Borgernes Parti (The Citizens' Party) [H] Which is just...So there used to be a party called Nye Borgerlige (New Bourgeois) which was created in 2015 because the racist parties we already had at that point just weren't racist enough. That party changes leadership in 2019 to a guy called Lars Boje. Lars Boje and the party has a bunch of scandals and Lars leaves a few months after becoming leader, because he wants to be paid a bunch of money by the party and the party doesn't want to pay him. So he creates a new party, which is this one. He also thinks menstruating is equivalent to shitting your pants. Look at this dickhead

Liberal Alliance (Liberal Alliance) [I] Ironically a party that quite often votes against personal freedom, if that personal freedom is enjoyed by a woman. To sound like someone from 2016 they're what you'd get if reddit and the concept of mansplaining had a child.Apart from that they're big on tax cuts. Their leader, Alex Vanopslagh, got caught a bunch of years ago drunkenly heiling and singing nazi songs in a bar, and apparently that was a scandal for the journalist who broke the story, because how dared he encroach on a mans personal life like that? Big on tax cuts and "effectivising" everything (tax cuts). Alex is referred to by his supporters as "daddy Alex". He's very big on tiktok apparently. Currently slated to be the biggest party on the right. I want to drown this man

Venstre (Left) [V] which used to be the biggest right wing party, but the last few elections have been rough for them.Kind of your run-of-the-mill european right wing party. Love me farmers, love me tax cuts, 'ate education, 'ate regulation, simple as. I don't know a lot about their current stuff, but I'm sure they still suck. Their leader, Troels Lund Poulsen, looks like an aggregate of their electorate

Radikale Venstre (Radical Left) [B] Which is an off-shoot of Venstre from a long long time ago. They're centrists. Big on culture. It was their old party leader who was at the helm of EU when it forced Apple to change to using the industry standard charger cable, so that's nice I guess. If they were in the US they'd all have knocked doors for Hillary and chanted ITS Her Turn!

Moderaterne (The Moderates) [M] Which was started by the ex-leader of Venstre, Lars Løkke. Ostensibly a centrist party, because he says it is and that's good enough for danish media apparently.Currently in government. Lars Løkke donated 50k Dkk to the Mujahideen in his youth, and has kept up doing stupid shit with money ever since. He is known as the "quota king" due to his time as State Minister where he would sell commercial fishing quotas on the cheap to his friends. The guy is the epitome of politcal corruption

Everyone loves him. The party got nearly 10% of votes last election.

Alternativet (The Alternative) [Å] which is mainly a slightly more leftwing alternative to Radical Left. They came onto the scene little over a decade ago and announced they were an apolitical politcal party, that would function as a sort of "political laboratory". They got some wind in the sails early on, but lost most of it when they released a calendar with pictures of a bunch of the party members' members.

Socialdemokraterne (The Social Democrats) [A] They still brand themselves on being leftist and for the working man, but christ all of that is long gone. Helmed by Mette Frederiksen.About 15 years ago or so they decided to be racist in order to steal votes from Dansk Folkeparti. Now they're just racist for the love of the game I guess. They're conservatives. Despite how much shit they suck they managed to get 27% of the votes last election. Maybe that has something to do with how they're treated with kid gloves by state media. Fun fact: The last editor in chief of the danish state broadcaster DR was childhood friends with Mette Frederiksen. And the current editor used to be a party member! Fun! Yay!

Socialistisk Folkeparti (Socialist Peopleparty) [F] They're social democrats. Started by a CIA asset in the 60's or something. Another party I haven't kept up to date with.

Enhedslisten (The Unity List, also known as The Red Green Alliance) [Ø] You might have seen @SoyViking@hexbear.net refer to them as the "pro-democracy party" in his reports on the situation up north.Started by a bunch of teeny tiny communist parties that decided to band together in order to actually get enough votes to get into government, the unity list recently kicked out a bunch of the old guard of communists that created the party because they were too enthusiastic about supporting Palestine. Or so I'm told, the situation here is so bleak I'm kind of checked out on politics in Denmark, everything sucks so goddamn much. Their leader is Pelle Dragsted who really ought to be cool. He was in black bloc when he was younger, and he's in the administration for the union of collectives in Denmark where he has agitated for some of the older collectives with bigger houses and lower rent putting in more cash than the younger collectives.

These parties are typically put into two groups: "Red block" and "Blue block". Last election danish state media suddenly started talking about a third "purple block" which was just Lars Løkkes party Moderaterne - They had declared themselves centrists you see? Why not put the other centrist parties in purple block? Who the fuck knows.

Anyway, this was the election result in 2022

The parties in Red Block just barely managed to get enough votes to put together a coalition government, but the leadership of The Social Democrats, headed by Mette Frederiksen, decided to cut a deal with the "purple block" (which is just Lars Løkke and his stooges) and Venstre, which shocked a whole bunch of people.

I was mainly shocked because Socialdemokraterne got 27.5% percent of the vote despite how much shit they'd already sucked. There had been a huge scandal during COVID wherein Mette Frederiksen, in capacity as Minister of State, had danish mink-farms cull their mink, due to issues with disease in the population. This supposedly crushed the minkfarmers, who then got bought out based basically on their own valuation of farms that had not made a profit in decades. The scandal was of course that she dared do something proactive like have the mink culled, not that she paid a bunch of fuckhead farmers a fortune for their pile of tortured rags.I was also shocked that LARS LØKKE THE QUOTA KING got 10% OF THE VOTE WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE???

Anyway, that's sort of the preamble/context you need. One of the first things the new government did was remove a holiday because we simply didn't have the money in state coffers to pay for everything if we kept the holiday. Then we bought a private jet for Lars Løkke and then we managed to find a couple billion that were just lying around somewhere, so we could give that to Ukraine.Recently there was a minor scandal of an interview where Mette Frederiksen was asked to choose between a series of issues. Above everything else, more money for hospitals, better education, the climate, development, etc. she felt that the most important would be to get age restriction on TikTok...And during elections for municipal governments it came out that large companies like JEUDAN (danish Blackrock more or less) paid for commercials for the Social Democrats and had given multi-million kroner apartments as "gifts" to several politicians.

Despite ALL OF THAT this is how the latest polls look

The social democrats are still the largest party BY FAR. And media still talk about them being part of "red block" for some reason. All western journalists get the fucking wall. We're probably getting "Daddy Alex" into government jesus fucking christ shoot me dead. The welfare state is already being gutted to shit. Between 2016 and 2021 universities had to lower their budget by 2% EVERY YEAR. And they've cut even more after.

The social democrats are running on "no more than 14 kids in each class in the lowest grades" and it's like WHO STUFFED THE GRADES FULL OF KIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE? YOU DID! But Mr. and Mrs. Denmark just eat their slop and listen to the "objective reporting" and AAAAHHHHHH 21% STILL VOTING FOR THE SOCIAL DEMOCRATS??? AND ALL THE OTHER PEASANTFUCKING PARTIES AND THEIR INANE FUCKING RACISM! WHAT THE FUCK?

I know the election is going to be bleak, I can feel it in my bones.
