Germans talking to eachother (CW: misogyny against children, racism)

With germans being in the spotlight for the last two weeks, I thought I shed some light on how indicative this kind of racism is. And as a sample here is what my wife told me last friday after she went to a baby moms meetup.

So the backstory is that this is a thrice-weekly meetup organized by a daycare, funded by the church and intended as a third place (technically second place since baby moms labor at home, but you get the idea) for moms with babies. There were originally 4 women doing the organizing, one quit because she felt like it (she is a midwife and wanted to do more hands-on midwifing), one has been on sick leave for over a year now, one is going to rehab on the other side of this "country" leaving only Brigitte (not her real name ofc) to do the set up, tidying etc. Of course the other moms help, but she is the one responsible.

Now Brigitte is already more than a sour note for my wife when going to these meetings. A couple months ago my wife, some moms and her were casually chatting about clothes, when the conversation turned to Brigitte talking how men cannot be held liable for their urges with the way some 13 year olds are dressing... My wife went to complain about her (which was a huge deal for her, these meetups are sometimes the only escape for her during the winter because she is nursing and has to take our baby everywhere). She got heard, there was some meeting, Brigitte went on sick leave for a month or so and the end. Nothing else happened. Brigitte is a mom of 3 boys btw.

Brigitte also had complained about those "immigrant moms" that never help and leave a mess. These meetups are more "immigrant" moms than white-german moms, and it was also in my wifes complaint. But no, nothing to be done. My wife keeps getting agreement from Brigittes coworkers who hear similar sentiments from her. But Brigitte remains at her post. No new hires nothing.

Anyway last friday it's just Brigitte of the official staff, so my wife keeps a distance and talks to some other mom, lets call her Ulli. Ulli asks my wife if she had ever been at the mom meetup that's quite a bit further away. My wife had been, the meet up is almost completely white-german upper class moms, talking about their last vacation and private gardens and my wife felt very out of place. Well Ulli prefers that meetup apparently because every mom there talks german and she "does not understand half the people here!" There were a lot of moms speaking farsi there at the time, their german isn't great, so they talk farsi amongst eachother. Luckily my wife knew one of the farsi speaking moms there, who also speaks german and is eager to practice so she at least had someone to talk to. And it's not like the farsi speaking moms are exclusionary, absolutely the opposite, but it's a bit of effort for the poor krauts to have to think about what the other person is saying and not just vibe the direction of the conversation and throw out something that sounds vaguely like it relates to the topic.

So in case you ever wondered what white germans talk to eachother about, it's 60% racism, 30% misogyny and 10% how bad the weather is.
