List of all actors who appeared in both Sunny and Star Trek
Most fans of both of these franchises can probably name a few characters from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia who were portrayed by an actor who appeared in Star Trek as well. But you might be surprised by just how many actors were in both! Here is a list of all 47 of them:
A few things to note here:
- I compiled this list by comparing the cast lists on IMDb as of October 2025
- Just before posting, I checked the page for the very new Starfleet Academy series, but there are no Sunny actors in that yet
- Multiple Star Trek series, as well as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia itself, are still ongoing at the time of writing. As such, this list will likely become incomplete in the near future as other actors join each franchise
- Several actors on this list appeared as multiple different Star Trek characters. I did not have much of a concrete method for choosing which of their characters to include in this list above their name. It was pretty arbitrary. Just one from Sunny and one from Trek
- I am not certain that is actually Symba Smith's Sunny character in that screenshot. I cannot find anything that indicates specifically which scene actually featured that actor. That is just my best guess. My next best guess was perhaps Smith was the sensory deprivation tank employee
