Thoughts on 1989 expulsion of Turks from Bulgaria?

Firstly, sorry for CIApedia source there was no Prolewiki article that covers the issue.

We have an anti-communist arguments always fascist & libs brings up when they heard a communism word. 'Look what communists did our brothers and sisters in Bulgaria', 'They banned the mosques!', 'They changed their name and surnames! Tried to assimilate them!'

I can confirm that changing name case was a fact and still continues today Bulgarian Turkish people have 2 different names in 2 different country.

Expulsion made a huge effect on Turkish left and divide them up to day. One side was claiming that was a disaster policy for communist another one is saying that this is exaggerated by anti-communists. I've only heard one Bulgarian leftist arguments on this. They claimed that Turkish people were settlers and they either have to assimilated to population or expelled.

I would like to hear thoughts and analysis on this. If, a Bulgarian comrade answer the question that would be so great.
