A forum for news and discussions about New World: Aeternum, an open-world MMORPG created by Amazon Games.
Our Community Rules primarily strive to apply the Lemmy.zip CoC to our discussions of New World, establishing a better community for those who enjoy this game. First and foremost, follow the CoC, and then follow our rules:
Kindness and Maturity. Tasteful dunking on the subjects of a given post or enemy factions is fine, but there is no need to be rude or aggressive toward users in this community. It's a game. Being unpleasant about it does not enrich you nor others.
Quality Discussions. Avoid unstructured critique and hyperbolic claims that terminate meaningful discourse.
Inclusivity. Beyond what that means for the wider Lemmy community, that also means welcoming and respecting everyone no matter how they choose to play New World. Console? Casual? Perpetually sweaty? Welcome one and all.
I'm interested in playing, but I don't want to get locked into having to buy expansions to keep up with the playerbase. Is this game just buy once and have access to all the content forever, or will I have to buy an expansion at some point if I want to play with everyone else?
Hey all, I was wondering what do y'all think about the game after the recent relaunch. What is the state of things? Is it worth returning and if so, does it make sense to start anew on new servers, or just continue with the old character?
I don't have the Angry Earth expac so mainly wondering if it is worth the additional buy in price.
I don’t mind if it requires thousands of hours of grinding, or a literal million materials. I just want to be able to craft true BiS gear.
I envision gear that requires what would be considered an absurd amount of the top tier resources, but has max GS and lets you select every perk you want. I’m not an expert on game design, so I won’t even hazard a guess at what quantities it would take to be balanced. With the coin cap, it surely couldn’t be tradable.
I'll go first: Rapier. Bow and musket often mainly used rapier as an escape tool, and the stun caused by the parry was ridiculously effective at shutting down multiple melee combatants at a time, just when you thought you'd finally caught them. Looking forward to finding new reasons to hate rapiers in this expansion.
